Masao Takemoto
As one of his country's most honored gymnasts, Mr. Takemoto was nominated for induction into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame by the Japan Gymnastics Association in 1996.
At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Masao Takemoto won the gold team medal and the silver medal on the horizontal bar, while finished 5th in the all-around – all at the age of 41.
MASAO TAKEMOTO, along with his fellow gymnasts from Japan, held tight control over men's international gymnastics for many years. The men's team from Japan dominated the world and Olympic championships for several decades. , Mr. Takemoto compiled a fantastic record as part of that era, winning more than 10 Olympic and World Championship medals. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Masao Takemoto won the gold team medal and the silver medal on the horizontal bar, while finished 5th in the All-Around – all at the age of 41.
