The International Gymnastics Hall of Fame was founded by long-time publisher Glenn M. Sundby. Providing space in his magazine to promote the idea of a truly international site, Glenn held onto the dream of creating a physical space for visitors to walk through and see personal items and memorabilia from those selected to be honored. He traveled the globe in search of information and soliciting items from friends worldwide. Glenn dedicated several rooms in his business location in Oceanside, CA, to display and store many of the articles collected over the years. He never wavered from his dream and eventually asked for help from a number of gymnastics associates. A Board of Directors was formed and a system for selecting qualified candidates for enshrinement was adopted. A formal Induction Ceremony was designed for honoring each year's class of Hall of Famers. In 1996, the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame was relocated to Okahoma City, Oklahoma, where it has developed a solid foundation of public and private support.
